Five Year Strategic Plan 2021–2026
ERB is currently implementing its Five Year Strategic Plan 2021/2022–2025/2026. The rationale for the Strategic Plan is to enable the Board to perform its functions effectively and efficiently. The Plan defines five strategic objectives (A–E) as key areas of improvement aligned with Tanzania’s national development framework, the Third Five Year Development Plan (FYDP III), and Agenda 2063.
Implementation Status
ERB is currently in the third year of implementing this Five Year Strategic Plan. Annual performance reviews are conducted to track progress against the defined targets and key performance indicators.
Strategic Objectives
Objective A
HIV/AIDS Infections and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Reduced and Supportive Services Improved — ensuring ERB staff and engineering practitioners benefit from health promotion and wellness programs.
Objective B
Effective implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy enhanced and sustained — promoting a culture of integrity, accountability, and zero tolerance for corruption within ERB and the engineering profession.
Objective C
Regulatory Practice for Engineering Professionals, Firms, Works and Services Enhanced — improving registration systems, compliance monitoring, enforcement, and the Code of Conduct.
Objective D
Engineering Professionals and Firms Competence, Growth and Sustainability Enhanced and Strengthened — expanding SOPEL, CPD programs, SEAP, and engagement with universities to build a globally competitive engineering workforce and sustainable firms.
Objective E
Institutional Capacity to Support ERB Service Delivery Improved — strengthening human resources, ICT systems, financial management, physical infrastructure, and organizational governance at ERB.

🎯 Alignment with National Plans
The Strategic Plan is aligned with Tanzania’s Third Five-Year Development Plan (FYDP III) 2021/22–2025/26, Agenda 2063, and the Big Results Now (BRN) initiative, ensuring ERB’s work contributes to national priorities.
📊 Performance Monitoring
A results-based monitoring and evaluation framework tracks progress against each objective. Quarterly performance reviews are conducted by ERB management and presented to the Board annually.
👥 Stakeholder Engagement
The Strategic Plan was developed through extensive consultations with engineers, consulting firms, government ministries, academic institutions, and development partners to ensure it reflects the sector’s priorities.
💲 Resource Mobilization
ERB’s Strategic Plan includes a resource mobilization strategy to ensure adequate financing for all planned activities through registration fees, government support, and development partner funding.
